SCRIPTURE: Acts 2:42-47
KEY VERSE: v. 42 "And they were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer."
FOCUS: The "Movement" set in motion at Pentecost is a miracle that is operating in this place today.
INTRODUCTION: "There is no need for us to wait, as the one hundred and twenty had to wait, for the Spirit to come. For the Holy Spirit did come on the Day of Pentecost, and has never left His church. Our responsibility is to humble ourselves before His sovereign authority, to determine not to quench Him, but to allow Him His freedom." ~ John R. W. Stott
The same remarkable gifts at Pentecost are ours today:
I. CONVICTION GRIPPED EACH HEART AND MIND
II. CONNECTION BETWEEN BELIEVERS WAS UNIFYING
III. CONFIDENCE MADE THEM BOLD WITH GOD’S MESSAGE
IV. COMMITMENT TO THE MISSION WAS IN PLACE
V. CLEANSING DEALT A DEATH BLOW TO CARNALITY
CONCLUSION: "Some of you are concerned about what is happening in your Church, and I want to show you how it is solidly Biblical and sane." ~ A pastor, beginning a message in which he explained to his congregation the renewal of the Holy Spirit in many of his people.
