TODAY’S “GOOD NEWS” – June 15, 2003    *Father’s Day

 MESSAGE:  “LIVING IN KINGDOM COME:                                                                                        …On The Home Front!”

SCRIPTURE:  Luke 15:11-32

KEY VERSE:  v. 22  “‘Hurry!’  called out his father to the servants, ‘Bring the best clothes and put them on him!  Put a ring on his finger and shoes on his feet, and get that calf we’ve fattened and kill it, and we will have a feast and a celebration!’”  

FOCUS: Dad knows best when he has the “father-heart” of God.

INTRODUCTION:  “One of the first changes God did in my heart was a change of attitude toward honoring my father.  God said:  ‘You honor your mother, how about your father?’  I said, ‘Lord we are all a bunch of stubborn Germans and besides, Dad won’t listen to me.’  God said:  ‘Son, you have it all wrong, I don’t want you to change your father, I want to change you.’  I said, ‘Okay, Lord, change me, and I will let you take care of the rest.’  And then I asked God to show me how to honor my father.”                                                                             ~A son near by
