TODAY’S “GOOD NEWS” – September 14, 2003

MESSAGE:  “LIVING IN KINGDOM COME:

…And Becoming Great In God’s Sight”

SCRIPTURE:  Matthew 18:1-6

KEY VERSE:  v. 4  “Whoever then humbles himself as this child, he is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven.”

FOCUS:  Greatness of character is developed and revealed in Kingdom life.

INTRODUCTION:  “God’s offer is for all, and, in a very real sense, is specially sent to the worst, just as the doctor goes first to the most severely wounded.   So the motley crew, without the least attempt at discrimination, is seated at the table (The Great Feast).  If the Church understands its business, it will have nothing to do in its message with distinctions of character any more than of class, but if it makes any differences, will give the outcast and disreputable the first place in its efforts.  Is that what it does?”    ~ Alexander Maclaren

I.       A HUMBLE HEART IS YOUR “PASS” INTO THE KINGDOM

II.        HUMILITY IS A CHOICE TO BE MADE BY EACH OF US

III.       THE HUMBLE HEART IS PROTECTED BY ALMIGHTY GOD

CONCLUSION:  “Do we really want the Kingdom of God if it means the absolute rule of the Lord in our lives?”             ~ Lloyd Ogilvie

PREACHING:  Pastor Holland Lewis
